Cyclists , roadworks,  rockfalls and #Chappies are not good bedfellows.  As the weather warms up, more and more cyclists are taking to the roads for summer training.  The Chappies/Cyclist debate is raging at dinner tables all over the peninsula and on many Facebook Community forums. The reality of the situation is that Chapman’s Peak Drive is still dangerous on the Noordhoek Side of the viewpoint following damage to the slopes in the Wildfire of March 2015.  It…

As the days get longer, lazier and warmer, the birds get chirpier and the blossoms brighter, so the urge to pack a picnic basket, grab a blanket and head outdoors becomes more prevalent in our thinking and planning and actions. Summer is here- which definitely makes it time to grab a picnic basket and get out there! Cape Town is spoiled for choice when it comes to picnic spots. Head for one of the many…

Chapman’s Peak Drive is a toll road and the fee increases every year, usually on 1 July. This is based on a contractual agreement between the Concessionaire and the Department of Transport & Public Works. The increase will happen every year so Chapman’s Peak Drive recommends that if you drive over Chappies more than 3 times per month (this a no-brainer!) to register now and start saving! For some people driving on Chapman’s Peak Drive is a once in a…

Discount tariffs are still applicable to users who have pre-registered with the concessionaire operator and who maintain a minimum balance of R50.00 in their accounts. Discount tariffs are only applicable to non-commercial use only. For a light motor vehicle, the…
