Chapmans Peak Closed following Severe Mudslide

Chapman's Peak Drive Closed following Severe Mudslide. Chapman's Peak drive that runs along the Atlantic Coast between Noordhoek and Hout Bay has been shut due to a mudslide following severe weather conditions in the Western Cape on 15 and 16th November 2013. The mudslide took place on the Hout Bay side of the road and due to the severity Chapman's Peak Drive will be closed for two weeks until at least the beginning of December 2013 . Work or repairs will commence thereafter.

The road is closed from both Hout Bay and Noordhoek to all vehicular traffic. Due to the mud and instability it is not recommended for anyone to use the drive, including cyclists, runners and hikers. Please not that the damaged section of the road is outside the area of Entilini Operations contractual obligation. All remedial work is under the direct control and management of Provincial Government, The Department of Transport and Public roads.
