Civil Engineering and Environmental impact along with lots of other aspects require a big and concerted management role and for almost two decades we have managed to do our utmost in keeping Chapman’s Peak Drive operational. We appreciate the feedback and support from all users and knowing that our frequent users are reliant on the road for daily commute we work at the fastest pace we can within the confines of Mother Nature and natural disasters when there is bad weather conditions and rock falls. Winter is here so you will possibly see more closures to ensure public safety. We thank you for your patience during these times.
On the weekend of 6 – 8 May 2022 we had three days of celebrations for the 100 years of Chapman’s Peak Drive which started with - and is still continuing - a 100 days before with a competition including partners as businesses in both Hout Bay and Noordhoek offering prizes to users for taking their pic or video at the frame found at the big picnic site and sharing to their social media and including #CPD100YEARS in their caption.

6 May 2022 we had an honorary plaque unveiling at the toll plaza with Alan Winde the Premier of the Western Cape, sharing his thoughts along with other colleagues and representatives. The Saturday 7 May 2022 was a day of sporting activity as part of the CSI involvement which included a soccer derby in Noordhoek hosted by the Noordhoek Football Club in collaboration with the Noordhoek Ratepayers Association. A skateboard clinic with the Eyethu Skate Park in collaboration with Ziyaad’s Skate School and a Netball Tournament in the Harbour community of Hangberg with teams from the community and Imizamo Yethu.
Sunday 8 May 2022 the drive was open to the public who came out to celebrate and enjoy the day, the picnic sites and pull over sections were packed and the weather was great. Our staff also had their celebration with a braai and special honor of the ten long standing staff members being part of a canon gun salute at the site of the frame. There was also a parade of vehicles and motorcycles as part of the celebrations and created a great vibe and cheerful atmosphere. The Hout Bay Yacht Club also hosted a sailing race and rowing events as their way of being part to the celebrations. A group of bikers came through and drove the route to celebrating the 100 years and in honor of their friend surviving cancer.
