We’re open - at reduced capacity

As an essential service, Chapmans Peak Drive has been open for the duration of lockdown and we remain open for level 3. We love welcoming you to the world’s most scenic drive but please bear in mind that these are extraordinary times. To keep to Government’s regulations, our services are operating at reduced capacity so that our staff can maintain the social distancing requirements. Please refer to the Govt Gazette of 28 May 2020 for the latest regulations.

Open 24 hours

Chappies is open every day, 24 hours a day. However, this is subject to weather conditions. To keep you safe, we have to close the road during high-risk weather conditions. It is advisable to check the @ChapmansPeakDrive Facebook or the website for real-time updates on whether the road is open or not.

Day passes are still suspended

Unfortunately, our day passes, which allows for the free use of the road until the turnaround point, are still suspended under lockdown level 3. We expect to reopen this service once lockdown has ended.

Only essential visits to office - please wear a mask

Our office, situated at the toll gate, is open but we’re operating with a skeleton staff to comply with Government’s lockdown regulations. We want to discourage visits to the office to keep our staff safe. Please only visit the office for vital matters. If you do need to visit the office it is essential that you wear a mask and keep at least 1,5m away from other people. A screening process will take place before you may enter. Please make sure you sanitize your hands before entering the premises.

Look out for runners and cyclists

With exercise hours being extended from 6am to 6pm, please look out for runners and cyclists when you’re driving along Chapmans Peak Drive. We implore cyclists to ride in single file and runners to keep well to the side of the road, and to wear bright, easy-to-see gear.
